Do What You Want | Day 70
How are you, everyone? I hope you're doing well!
Life is great, life is beautiful. Everything's going to go just fine. Don't worry.
Today I'm going to talk about different stuff so don't expect a cohesion between the topics.
I really wanted to talk to you about my trip to Thessaloniki, Yannena, Meteora, Larissa, Kastoria and other beautiful places in Greece but unfortunately I can't. And that's because the internal hard driver of my PC is damaged due to normal causes (we've been using it for 10 years or so and our technical supporter told us that it's normal for it to be damaged after all of that time).
The bad thing is that photos and videos of my trip to those places are all in there and now I can't get access to the files. Hopefully, some day soon I'll be able to. But for now I can't. So, (since words don't express what is being expressed with photos) don't expect a blog post about that. :( And there are so many memories of course that it would be a pity if they'd just get removed like that. Anyway, there's a solution for everything. I don't want to create a drama out of things, I like to keep a smile on my face and hope for the best. So, that's what I'm going to do for once more.
Family to me is the most important thing. It's what I put first in my whole life. Nothing comes first but my family. These people are the only people that I will forever stay loyal to and they will too. I never doubted that but as I grow up, I realize it more and more. I've met many people in my life, befriended them, created really strong bonds with them but nothing can surpass the bond that I've got with my family. And I'm really happy about that.
Of course, I know that there are families out there that are not so close to each other and that do not love each other or care about each other that much and I only send my love and my support and the deepest of my wishes to those people who are on their own. But all I want to say to them and to everyone else is that family is not only the people who gave birth to you and raised you. You can choose your family, your friends are your family, your dreams are your family and yourself is also your family. So, be good to everyone around you. Be nice, kind, loving, caring and friendly to the people that surround you and yourself (of course). Let away selfishness and hug each other.
Today's music is good and bad at the same time. What do I mean? This is a very sensitive topic that needs to be discussed. I think that today's music is not that good as it used to be some (or many) years ago. Most tunes sound the same, songwriters write about the same things, musicians use the same chords and every time a new song pops up it's like you listen to something that you have already listened to in the past. But I'm referring to MAINSTREAM music. You know, the one that is mostly played on the radios. I would like to be clear that I don't put my self out of this. I mean, my main music style is pop and the pop that I create is being formed by my inspirations. Most of my inspirations come from the music that is being released these years. So, I may be using the same techniques as most of those musicians that I mentioned are using. I don't completely accuse that or say that it's bad. But it's kind of disappointing that it seems like originality is not thriving, it seems like musicians have used every single melody and every single chord and there is nothing completely new nowadays to be discovered. But it's normal. It's normal that some people that were creating music in the past were of course before us and we are obviously after them. I can't complain about that. It's the most normal thing ever.
When I wirte music, I don't have limits. I get inspired by a lot of things and luckily my inspirations don't always come from the music that I listen to today. I've written a certain number of songs and they're not all pop. I've written rock, jazz, disco, rock n roll, Greek traditional, Greek slow songs, ballads, rap songs, pop, edm and dubstep style songs. I like to experience new things and be a part of things that I have never been a part of.
So, today's music has inspired the majority of my songs but there are so many others that have been inspired by the 70s, 80s, 90s music. That's why sometimes, when I'm in the mood to do so, I like to listen to (g)old music. It's great to review to the people who began this thing that we call pop today or rock or jazz. We are able to meet new worlds that broaden our horizons and help us be better creators and people. So, you have to know that you won't be considered old - fashioned if you listen to music that has been released 20-30-40-50 years ago. Because that's what is helping you develop your skills and evolve.
Today's music is good and bad. But that of course is a subjective opinion and not an objective one. Tell me what you think about today's music and your own unique inspirations and music taste. I'd love to see your comments.
My new cover is out and I'm so happy about it. It's a song originally performed by Lady Gaga, it's called Do What You want. Lady Gaga has collaborated with R. Kelly and Christina Aguilera for this song but I chose the solo version because I love it the most. I've been singing this song since 2013 when it came out. I've loved this song since then. It's one of my favourite ones. When I sing it, I feel free, I am myself and I feel fearless. I love it. Please check it out and tell me what you think!
I did a flashback to dance styles since 1950 by putting various videos in my video from 1950-2017. I had that idea and I'm so happy I made it come true and I'm proud of the final result. I hope you love it too.
